Bio
Coach Belgrave has been involved with football as a defensive back for 16+ years. Belgrave was all-district on both offense (wide receiver/running back) and defense (defensive back) for two straight years at Granby High School (VA)…helped lead the Comets to a district championship in 2004…earned All-Tidewater Conference Second Team honors as a wide receiver in ‘04 and honorable mention as a defensive back in ’05…was part of state championship team at Atlantic Shores High School in 2002…was named team’s defensive back of the year…earned three varsity letters in football, two in baseball and one in basketball.
At Kent State, Belgrave as a freshman played in 10 games for the Golden Flashes at defensive back, recording three tackles, one solo…one of eight true freshmen to earn a varsity letter. As a sophomore, he appeared in 11 games as a defensive back, starting the last two games of the season …recorded 16 tackles, eight solo, and two pass break-ups for the season…had a career-high eight tackles against Northern Illinois on Nov. 10. His junior season, appeared in every game at defensive back with six starts…posted career highs in total tackles (40) and solo tackles (30)…notched first career interception in win at Miami Oct. 25…recorded season-high seven tackles at Buffalo Nov. 28. In his final year, he appeared in 10 games recording 19 tackles, thirteen solo, and entered the 2011 NFL Draft.
Following his collegiate career, Kirk was fortunate enough to have a brief stint in the NFL signing a Free Agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Also receiving a tryout with the Buffalo Bills and multiple Arena Football League offers.
